Ready for Summer

Portland is a lovely town, but Summer sure takes it's time to get here. The rule of thumb is that you can't count on warm summer weather until after The Fourth of July, which is still quite a ways away. In the meantime, I'll pretend I'm in one of these swimsuits.

Summer Patterns

I'm digging these amazing patterns and colors. A little something for the whole family.

Cloth Diapering

For my family, the choice between using cloth and disposable diapers was a no-brainer for two main reasons: 1. cloth diapers are far better for the environment, and 2. they are much more affordable after your initial investment.

The other bonuses to cloth diapering is that they use absorbent fabrics instead of chemical compounds like many disposables, and they look down right adorable on your baby. I know the words "cloth diapers" conjure up images of moms up to their elbows in toilet water, scrubbing out poopy diapers. I have to say, this isn't really the case for me, and we use cloth diapers (and wipes!) exclusively. Here is how we make cloth diapering super convenient for us along with some of my favorite products.

The Nipper's Birth Story

I absolutely loved being pregnant. It was such a profound experience and taught me so many lessons in letting go and surrendering to my body. Through pregnancy and birth you master your own biological potential and experience the most epic sensations of joy, love, pain, and pride.

Long before I ever got pregnant, or married for that matter,  I knew I would do everything possible have an unmedicated natural labor. It was honestly a bucket list item for me. I believe our bodies are fully equipped to birth this way, and had total confidence in my body to do so. My mother had natural labors with my sister and myself, and so I always thought, "If she can do it, so can I".

Still Loving Stripes

I am addicted to wearing stripes and manage to incorporate them into most of my outfits (and The Nipper's too!).  So naturally, I am happy to see that one of my favorite fashion trends doesn't seem to be going anywhere. I adore this outfit in the new J.Crew catalog, could slink around in these, and would stroll with the babe in this lovely top from LemLem and Baggu daypack. Check out this slideshow for inspiration.

Maiden Voyage

So here I am. My first of (I hope) many, many posts. I'm looking forward to sharing my thoughts on motherhood, food, fashion, art, and more. I hope not to disappoint. Enjoy!
